GIRLS SOCCER: Syracuse tops Fremont to take control of Region 1

SYRACUSE — Syracuse took a 2-0 halftime lead and held on to beat Fremont 2-1 on Tuesday to take over first place in Region 1.

Lauren Burnett and Ashlyn Hall each tallied a goal for Syracuse (9-1, 5-1 Region 1).

Mazzie Melaney found the back of the net for Fremont (4-4-2, 3-3).

BOUNTIFUL 3, BOX ELDER 2 (OT)

BRIGHAM CITY — Alex Hoffman headed in a Summer Ashby corner kick in extra time to give Bountiful the region road win.

Hailey Bleazard, assisted by Hoffman, scored for the Braves (6-4, 2-2 Region 5) in the first half and Whitney Turner scored in the second half, unassisted off a throw-in.

Mylan Daniels and Hailey Jarman each scored in the second half for Box Elder (4-3-3, 1-2-1).

DAVIS 6, CLEARFIELD 0

CLEARFIELD — Davis (5-4, 3-3 Region 1) scored all six of its goals in the first half on the way to a shutout win at Clearfield (1-8-1, 0-6).

Maddie McLeod and Zoe Jacobs each scored twice for the Darts. Alexa Maple and Sami Bates added goals for Davis.

Halle Moffat got the clean sheet.

WOODS CROSS 6, ROY 5

WOODS CROSS — Woods Cross took a 3-1 halftime lead, then Roy scored four second-half goals in a comeback bid that was just short.

Sara Noel and Ella Duce each scored two goals for Woods Cross (6-1-4, 3-0-1 Region 5). Lauren Howe and Emma Bronson also scored for the Wildcats.

Abbie Hunter scored twice for the Royals (2-8, 0-4). Savanna Martinez, Bailey Bessinger and Teya Trujillo each scored once.

MORGAN 8, SUMMIT ACADEMY 0

MORGAN — Morgan (6-5, 3-0 Region 13) scored four times in each half on the way to a shutout region victory over Summit Academy (2-3, 1-1).

Allison Flinton scored four goals for the Trojans. Morgan Cragun added two scores while Abi Francis and Sydney McGreer each scored once.

Taylor Condie earned the shutout.

WEBER 2, LAYTON 2 (2OT)

LAYTON — Layton took a 2-1 lead into halftime but Weber got the equalizer from Grace Conner in the 54th minute and claimed the draw after two periods of extra time.

Sydney Elmore and Abbee Smith each scored for Layton (6-3-1, 4-1-1 Region 1). Karsyn Miller assisted on the second Layton goal.

For Weber (3-4-3, 1-4-1), Yira Yoggerst scored the first goal of the game in the 16th minute, assisted by Natalie Davis. Trinity Kerr assisted on Connor’s goal.

Layton coach Tara Ferrin was impressed by the play of Warrior goalkeeper Claudia Vinaco. “Weber's keeper made some excellent saves at the end of the game and in overtime to preserve the [draw],” she said.

ROWLAND HALL-ST. MARK’S 13, UTAH MILITARY ACADEMY 0

RIVERDALE — Rowland Hall-St. Mark’s (6-0, 3-0 2-A North) scored early and often in the run-away victory at Utah Military Academy (0-3, 0-2 2-A North).

APA-DRAPER 3, ST. JOSEPH 1

DRAPER — American Preparatory Academy-Draper (2-1, 2-0 2-A North) broke a 1-1 halftime tie with two second-half goals in the 2-A North region win over St. Joseph (2-5, 2-2).

Sophie Bokinskie scored the lone Jayhawk goal.

RIDGELINE 6, BEAR RIVER 1

MILLVILLE — Kaysie Winward scored the lone goal for Bear River (2-6, 0-3 Region 12) as the Bears fell at Ridgeline (6-1-2, 2-1).

BONNEVILLE 5, STANSBURY 2

STANSBURY PARK — Bonneville (7-1-1, 5-0 Region 11) held on to a portion of the Region 11 lead with a win at Stansbury (5-5, 2-4) on Monday.

The Lakers led 2-0 at the half.

JUAN DIEGO 6, BEN LOMOND 2

OGDEN — Juan Diego (2-8, 2-4 Region 11) picked up a region road win at Ben Lomond (2-8, 0-6) on Monday.

PARK CITY 4, OGDEN 1

PARK CITY — Aleah Knowles converted a penalty kick in the second half but it wasn’t enough as Ogden fell in the region contest Monday.

Park City (6-2, 5-0 Region 11) led 1-0 at the half but ran away from Ogden (6-3, 4-2) in the second stanza.
